How we work with AI
Every song here has 100% human-written lyrics, at the very least. Most are original compositions we wrote and recorded twenty odd years ago, now re-performed with the help of AI - same song, better sound than we ever managed at the time. Others are new, with AI helping build the music from scratch under our direction: hours of curating, listening, and re-doing until it's right, not - and never<\b> - one click and done.
We disclose here and everywhere EXACTLY what AI did and didn't do on every single release, in full, in the log. Nothing vague, nothing hidden.

Spirit of Christmas
OK, a bit of fun for our unofficial debug single.
It's a CHRISTMAS song!
The lyrics were originally written as a poem back in 2001 when we were having a bit of a resurgence during Covid.
Sam created a [then] Volume One Facebook post with the poem to say happy Christmas to all our followers.
The music was something Ricky was working on around the same time, but the connection was never made to put these two together until this year.
Back then the working title was 'Electric Waltz', which became 'Electric Christmas'.
Ricky has been working on a new game for some time and was looking for ways to create the music for that game using material he had already created over the years,
and started using Suno to make the compositions. The idea struck during this process to merge the Spirit of Christmas lyrics with the Electric Waltz music so he uploaded both
to Suno and WHAM! a new song was born! It took some time to get the Christmas feel and play around with the traditional Christmas elements like
bells and chimes etc, but eventually Spirit of Christmas was ready.
It was so surprisingly well received (especially since it was released August 28th) that Sam sought help to translate the poem to Romanian and Spanish, replacing traditional
British festive ideas with traditional Romanian and Spanish and re-jigging the lyrics to make sense.
You never know, it might even be translated to more languages soon - let's see how it does!
The short version
Ricky and Sam played together as Volume One in Hampshire in the [early 2000s], gigging locally and recording everything themselves, right down to uploading tracks to SoundClick back when that was the only option going. Then life happened, as it does. Two decades on, one of us has moved to Lincolnshire, neither of us can gig the way we used to, and we've finally sat down to finish what we started - using Suno, carefully and transparently, to help us get there.
